Welcome to Women in Horror 2026!

Reposting some older Women in Horror Spotlights that I have shared over the years as these ladies are incredible authors, genuinely kind and compassionate leaders in the industry, and deserve all the recognition, not just once a year, but daily for all they do for the community, for their peers, and for other women in the industry.

TODAY, WE HONOR V. CASTRO!

Meet this incredible woman of horror: V. Castro!

V. Castro is a two-time Bram Stoker Award nominated author of Aliens: Vasquez, The Haunting of Alejandra, The Queen of The Cicadas, Goddess of Filth, Hairspray and Switchblades and Out of Atzlan.

Many of her stories are about her heritage and the history of her ancestors, including monsters in both human and inhuman forms. Some of her stories contain quite a bit of spice as well as some sci-fi thrown in the mix.

She is a Mexican American ex-pat living in the UK for the past 16 years. As a full-time mother, she dedicates her time to her family and writing.
